After meeting with so many wedding clients, I have found that the notion of the engagement session was still unclear as to how it can be beneficial for them. From experience, all clients who have decided to do an engagement session were extremely happy with the decision they made and here are the reasons why.
1- Help you find the best in yourself
Do you have a best side? A better profile? A favourite pose? Having engagement photos allow you to dissect all the elements you love so we can focus on them on your wedding day and the elements you don’t like so we can avoid them. Every person is unique and these factors are very subjective, therefor doing a shoot is the only way to tell precisely what your preferences are.
2- Be coached by your wedding photographer
The photoshoot after the ceremony is the most fun part for me as I get to control everything from the pose, the look, the expression, the environment and unleash my creativity and wildness! Throughout the years, I have developed a very defined style and a unique method of posing. This method can only be coached on location during the photoshoot and having the opportunity to do this during the engagement session, allow couples to know exactly how things will happen on the big day. The result of this is a faster pace on the wedding day and ultimately, more photos for the newly weds.
3- Be more confident
95% of my wedding clients have never stepped in front of a professional camera before the day of their wedding and I have to admit, having a big lens pointing at you can be at times quite intimidating. My role as a wedding photographer is to make my clients forget their day is being documented in order to achieve natural and candid looks. This process can take time and doing an engagement session allow them to live this experience before and therefor be more relaxed and confident during their wedding.
4- Amazing images in non wedding attire
Do you have beautiful and professional images of you and your beloved one? Although this is a beautiful souvenir and can be leveraged in so many ways, most of us unfortunately don’t. They are amazing souvenirs to look back at, to display or even to gift.
5- Save the date
Save the date are made to get your friends and family excited about your big day. This is a preview of what they can expect and having something personalized, professional and unique with your own photos will have them even more excited.
